After doing a bit of research, I think the bird featured here could be a Fenghuang—a mythological bird kind of like a phoenix, but basically the head god of all birds. It could easily be the similar-looking Vermillion Bird; or as my friend James suggested, the artist may have just gone, “yo I’m gonna put a sweet bird in this gap here.”
I dunno. Arts/Birds experts, help me out here.

Interrupting the steady stream of wedding photos to post some freelance work!
My friends and I all got together on Sunday to wander around a park and take some photos of the sweet Avatar inspired hoodies designed and sewn by the talented owner of Rarity’s Boutique.
Along with taking commissioned orders, she also makes My Little Pony themed hoodies that are adorable as hell. I’m not a follower of either of these shows, but the attention and care put into each product she makes is worth some Minnesota pride signal boostin’.

“This Will Have Been: Art, Love & Politics in the 1980s” is gonna be at the Walker startin’ this Friday! I already saw it once at the MCA Chicago, but I am definitely going again to see all the things I missed the first time around. And to ogle that Barbara Kruger print again.
Nidoran, by the incredibly talented and lovely Emily Partridge. The detail is so breathtaking in real life, the photo barely does it justice.
